The National Action Network (NAN) released a statement of approval of Perez as the new Secretary of Labor because of his persistent advocacy for African American, Latino, and middle-class issues, especially in areas of unemployment and employment discrimination.
Rev. Al Sharpton spoke on behalf of NAN by saying, “though we were not always in agreement with the final judgment by the Justice Department, we can clearly say that the attention, sensitivity, and professionalism demonstrated by Mr. Perez and his team for all Americans in the past has been notable.”
